American Bureau of Shipping Scholarship Award (ABS)

This scholarship was established in 2022 by the American Bureau of Shipping. The scholarship award money from ABS is to be distributed to a minimum of five (5) students by the university for the sole purpose of supporting students in these fields of study. Two (2) of these students may be returning ABS scholarship recipients. This fund will support scholarships for five need-based students in the School of Engineering and Applied Science.
To be eligible for an ABS scholarship award, students must meet the following criteria:
• Students should have financial need.
• Undergraduate students must be full-time students in pursuit of a degree in a relevant field (i.e., data engineering, computer science, engineering management, systems engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering). Students pursuing degrees outside of ABS core or secondary disciplines may be eligible with consideration by appropriate ABS personnel.
• Students pursuing a degree in data engineering, computer science, engineering management, systems engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering must demonstrate academic excellence by having maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Students should exhibit leadership qualities through involvement with school programs or clubs.
• Students should be of good character and should be acknowledged by members of the university faculty.
