Eleanor and Michael Burda Scholarship Fund

This endowment fund was established in 1999 by Michael Burda and was amended in 2003. Income earned by this fund provides undergraduate tuition assistance for students, full- or part-time, who are children (natural or adopted) of a member (living or dead) in good standing of the American Postal Workers Union (APWU) or the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) and are, or have been for at least a year prior to the academic year in which the award is made (or was at the time of death) a resident of the metropolitan area of Washington, D.C. (includes the District of Columbia, the counties of Montgomery, Prince Georges and Frederick in Maryland; the counties of Arlington, Fairfax and Loudoun in Virginia; and the city of Alexandria). The scholarship is administered in such a way as to assure that in each year at least one incoming freshman will receive the scholarship.
