Michael Burda Scholarship & Eleanor Van Horn Burda Scholarship

This endowment fund was established in 1999 by Michael Burda and was amended in 2003. Income earned by this fund provides a minimum of two scholarships in the School of Medicine and Health Sciences; one with preference for male candidates, to be entitled the “Michael Burda Scholarship,” and one with preference for female candidates, to be entitled the “Eleanor Van Horn Burda Scholarship.” First preference for both scholarships will be given to students who are children of a member in good standing of the American Postal Workers Union (APWU) nationally, or the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) nationally. If there are no such candidates in any given year, second preference will be given to students who are children of U.S. Postal Service employees. If in any given year, there are no candidates meeting either the first or second preferences, the scholarships will be granted to students living in the District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia, or (grand)children of former employees of Burda & Associates.
